Ruger GP100 .357 Raffle

First introduced in 1985, the Ruger GP-100 is an incredibly sturdy 6 shot double action revolver chambered in .357mag/.38spl and the .327 magnum. Its dependable design emerged from the older Security-Six, and was introduced as the answer to ending 3 different guns that were being manufactured by Sturm Ruger Incorporated at that time. The 3 models Ruger was retiring were the Service Six, Security Six, and Speed Six. The GP-100 possesses a bigger frame, larger metal tube, modified grips, a newer type trigger return spring, advance sights, and modified trigger guard latch. Aside from these little changes, both the Security-Six and GP-100 were internally very similar.

Ruger architects have done a superb job developing the GP-100. A majority of the components are comprised by push-out pins or spring-loaded plungers and only a mere three screws. The structure is a modular concept with 3 primary assemblies. The barrel and frame are the host assembly, and the trigger guard assembly and the cylinder assembly comprise the rest of the firearm. The GP-100 has been made in various different configurations, but the inner elements are all interchangeable. The 3 inch barrel model is 8.5 inches overall and comes in at about 36 ounces (empty). The 4.2 inch barrel model is 9.5 inches overall and comes in at 39.5 ounces (empty). The 6 inch barrel model is 11.5 inches overall and comes in at about 45 ounces (empty). GP-100s are generally produced in both blued and stainless steel, and the ejector rod shroud are available in half and full lug configurations.
